ADJ’s HEX Series of LED pars equipped with 6-in-1 HEX LEDs have proven extremely popular for a wide variety of applications from up-lighting to truss-warming, stage washing to dancefloor illumination. However, here at ADJ, we’re committed to constantly developing the product range to meet the needs of the customers. Therefore, following suggestions from existing users, we’re pleased to be able to introduce the new and improved PX HEX Series of LED pars.
The new “PX HEX” Series units feature professional-caliber powerCON input and output connections in place of the IEC sockets found on the original HEX Series models. This allows for a reliable power connection that locks securely into place and won’t pull out accidentally. It also allows for easy integration into professional stage rigs that are setup with powerCON power distribution.
In addition, all of the “PX HEX” Series fixtures are fitted with both 3-pin AND 5-pin XLR input and output sockets for DMX control and master/slave operation. This adds to the units’ flexibility, meaning that they can be easily integrated into either a 3-pin or 5-pin DMX setup and are therefore ideal for use by production and rental companies.
Comprised of four different models, the “PX HEX” Series offers fixtures suited to a range of different uses, all equipped with versatile HEX LEDs. Combining red, green, blue, amber, white and UV elements, they allow for a vast palette of mixed colors to be generated. These include both cool and warm white, as well as UV-infused colors such as hot pink, lime green and electric blue. The inclusion of the UV element also means that the fixture can create the classic ‘black light’ effect that causes white and neon-colored surfaces to glow brightly.
The 5PX HEX features five 12W HEX LEDs housed in a compact unit that is ideal for truss warming, up-lighting and stage washing. Despite its small dimensions of 4.5” x8.25” x8.75”/ 114 x208 x222mm (LxWxH) and low weight of 5.8 lbs./2.6 kgs., it has a robust metal construction making it ideal for temporary event production as well as fixed installation. The 5PX HEX PEARL model, meanwhile, offers the same LED power and casing design but with a striking all-white exterior.
For applications where increased lighting output is required, the 12PX HEX features a total of twelve 12W HEX LEDs. It generates a powerful beam of colored light that is ideal for washing stages and dancefloors as well as up-lighting large venues. Measuring 5.34” x9.8” x11.7”/136 x249 x297.5mm (LxWxH) it is still relatively compact and with a weight 8.7 lbs./4 kgs it is easy to lift and carry. As with the smaller model, an all-white version is also available the 12PX HEX PEARL which is ideal for white-themed venue installations as well as for temporary use at events such as weddings.
With all of the benefits that LED-powered fixtures offer over conventional pars, the “PX HEX” units are ideal for a wide variety of uses. Their LEDs have an operational life of approximately 50,000 hours, meaning that lamp replacement is a thing of the past and they are therefore perfectly suited for installation in hard to reach locations. Despite their powerful light output, the units also generate very little excess heat. This means they are ideal for illuminating stages while keeping the temperature comfortable for performers.
All four of the models are supplied with flexible scissor yokes, which can be used either as variable-angle floor stands or hanging brackets, as required. The units also benefit from ADJ’s intelligently-designed and patent-pending ‘sit-flat’ design, which means that they can be placed directly on the floor for up-lighting duties, with power and data connections located conveniently on the side of the casing.
With a 30-degree beam angle, all of the PX HEX pars are ideally suited for both up-lighting and stage illumination, generating a soft-edged pool of light. Adding further flexibility, the 12PX HEX and 12PX HEX PEARL are both supplied with a removable gel frame that can be used to hold diffusion filters (sold separately) if a wider beam angle is required.
Each of the four models is fitted with a 4-segment LED menu display and four corresponding push buttons, which allow easy access to five different operating modes: Static Color (63 built-in color macros), RGBAW+UV Dimmer, Program (7 built-in programs), Sound Active and DMX-controlled (6, 7, 8 or 12 channel). The fixtures can also be controlled remotely using ADJ’s DOTZ PAR RF wireless control (sold separately).
