1. The HS5500 does not find my BU5501 optional drive, why?
You must have firmware version 1200 or greater installed to operate the BU5501.
Older versions, 1000 & 1100 will not work.

2. Can I select CD playback from both Deck layers like the older S5000?
No, the CD device can only be accessed by Deck 1 or Deck 2 but never both at the same time
However, there is a cool trick that you can perform which is, "S5000 Alpha track-like" when using CD

Playback from Deck 1 by CD
Make perfect Echo Loop of 4/1 or 8/1
Push Cue
Select any USB device for Deck 1 (echo loop continues....)
Switch layers
Select "CD" device for Deck 2
Select Track from same CD and mix into Echo Loop
3. Can I select CD as the playback source from the Remote player in D-Sync mode?
Sorry No, only from the Master Deck
4. Will there ever be a firmware upgrade to use the CD source from both Deck layers at the same time?
Sorry, not possible.
5. What media type discs can I use with the BU5001?
We will only support standard "Compact Disc" CD Audio (CDDA). (MP3 & DVD-ROM Discs will not be supported).
If you have MP3s on CD's or DVD's, it definitely more reliable and convenient to centralize and organize these thousands of tracks for “one point” access, such as an external USB Hard Drive, or by our other option of using an internal 2.5” HDD with our BU5502 caddy. 6. Can I add CD tracks to Hot List and Playlist mode?
Sorry, these functions are not supported because traditionally CDs are used for 1 or 2 tracks then ejected from player
7. Am I able to use all the other features with CDs?
Yes, hot starts, looping, scratching, effects and Next Track are all available
8. The drive appears to take a little longer to read my discs, why?
The BU5501EM is a slot-in high performance drive with very fast operation to ensure that all functions will work under any circumstances properly. Therefore, this optimum drive does require a slightly longer initial disc read time upon loading to deliver such high performance.
Warranty: DENON DJ warrants its products to be free from defects for one (1) year from the date of purchase. This is a limited warranty which has specific conditions and limitations as set forth on the warranty certificate which accompanies each DENON DJ product.
Platinum: Products with the platinum designation qualify for priority warranty service. If a Platinum DENON DJ product fails within this period, call 1-630-741-0330 for free Next Day Air pick-up and return. Products must be in-warranty and purchased from an authorized DENON DJ dealer. Turnaround time is guaranteed between 48 -72 hours. Service for DENON DJ in-warranty products is performed in Itasca, Illinois or as otherwise determined by D&M Professional.
Express: Products with the express designation will receive premium warranty service. If an Express DENON DJ product fails within this period, call 1-630-741-0330 to receive your Service Return Authorization. Shipment of product for in-warranty repair will be at the owner’s expense. Upon receipt of product, turnaround time is guaranteed to be 72 hours. Product will be returned via the same shipping method as received at D&M Professional’s expense.
